(Haven’t read the article, but did say the above words out loud - loudly - while taking this photo in line at Whole Foods.)
There are days in my life when I spend a LOT of time thinking about this.

Speaking of Martha, last week I used this guide to dye and string wooden beads. Although my bathtub is now pink, it was pretty fun.

I recently got this book and CAN’T STOP LOOKING AT IT AND DYING ABOUT IT. It’s funny how the smallest nuggets of inspiration can trigger a whole avalanche of creativity. The time I’ve spent consuming the pages of this book has allowed me to think of a zillion different related projects I want to tackle, and my book of project ideas has, in the past few days, been constantly open and scribbled in as I figure out what I want to do next and how I want to do it.
I wish I’d found this earlier in the summer. I adore Martha - naysayers be damned - and she’s sparked my creativity just when I was getting so terribly bored with my projects and artsy exploits.
Next up: we’re gonna etch, paint, dye and sew. (Can’t wait to learn to embroider once a few other books come later this month.) I am ready to MAKE SHIT THIS FALL.
“I’m 28. I live with my 73-year-old dad. He is awesome. I just write down shit that he says.”
Sample: “Don’t touch the bacon, it’s not done yet. You let me handle the bacon, and i’ll let you handle..what ever it is you do. I guess nothing.”
“Why would i want to check a voicemail on my cell phone? People want to talk to me, call again. If i want to talk to you, I’ll answer.”
“I didn’t live to be 73 years old so I could eat kale. Don’t fix me your breakfast and pretend you’re fixing mine.”

Goddamnit.
thanks for the submission, rachel
